Why Your Business Is Not Showing on Google

Short answer: A business can be hard to find when Google has incomplete information, cannot clearly tell what the business offers, cannot discover important pages, or has little useful information to compare with other businesses. Start with clarity before adding more content.

1. Can someone tell what you do in five seconds?

Look at the homepage. Is the main service obvious? Is the customer you help obvious? Is the service area clear enough? If a visitor has to read several paragraphs to figure it out, the page needs work.

2. Does each important service have a clear page?

A single “Services” page may not explain an important service well enough. Create focused pages for the services that matter most, then connect them from the homepage and related content.

3. Is your Google Business Profile accurate?

Check the business name, category, hours, phone number, website, services, and service area. Keep the information current and truthful.

4. Does the website support the Google listing?

If the listing says you provide a service, the website should explain that service. If you serve a real area, the website should make that service area understandable without creating dozens of nearly identical pages.

5. Are you answering customer questions?

A useful article can answer a problem before the customer is ready to call. It can also point the reader to the service that solves that problem. This is much more useful than writing an article simply because a keyword looks popular.

What to fix first

Start with the homepage, your most important service page, Google Business Profile information, and the contact path. Once those are clear, add supporting content around real customer questions.
